Federal, state, business and estimated-payment deadlines may differ. Disaster relief can change deadlines. Confirm dates for your tax year on IRS.gov and your state tax agency’s website. An extension to file is generally not an extension to pay.
A W-2 reports employee wages and withholding. A 1099 may report freelance income, investments or other payments. Self-employed clients may owe self-employment tax and estimated payments. Income can be taxable even without an information form.
Dependent eligibility depends on factors such as relationship, residency and support. Childcare and education benefits have separate rules. Do not assume eligibility simply because you paid an expense.
Keep income and business expenses organized separately from personal spending. Save receipts and mileage records. Estimated payments and self-employment tax may apply; discuss your circumstances before choosing deductions.
A larger refund does not necessarily mean a better return. Review names, filing status, income and dependent information carefully. Never claim an expense or credit without the required support.
Refund timing varies and is determined by the taxing agency. An advance, if available through a provider, is a separate financial product subject to eligibility, terms and possible costs—not a guaranteed refund or a service promised here.
